Nevado Tres Cruces Climbing

The Tres Cruces Mountains are located 200 km. East of the province of Copiapo III Region of Chile, Its geographical location is expressed in UTM coordinates. It is the second summit in Chile. For to get those mountains one mist to travel by the route that goes to Argentina, which crosses nice landscapes and nice lakes as the Laguna Santa Rosa National Park and part of the Nevado Tres Cruces, where you can observe wildlife in the area Guanacos, Vicuñas, Flamingos.
1 Day: Europe / USA - Santiago de Chile
In the Internacional Airport of Santiango de Chile will be waiting our Chile Bergsport Tour Leader and transfer to the selected Hotel in Santiago, overnight in Santiango de Chile
2 Day: Santiago de Chile – Copiapo – Bahia Inglesa – Copiapo
morning breakfast at Hotel in Santiago de Chile and transfer to the Airport or Bus Station at proper time and transfer to Copiapo, arrive to Copiapo and transfer to the selected Hotel in Copiapo, as alternative could be to the Hotels in Bahia Inglesa o la Caldera, city tours in Copiapo and Visit the Bahia Inglesa, overnight in Copiapo or Bahia Inglesa.
3 Day: Copiapo – Vallecito after the breakfast in the Hotel in meet you before in the morning in Copiapo or Caldera and aboard the car and drive to Vallecito 3,100 masl and 120 km Copiapo 2 hours driving, Vallecito is a small Oasis Andean village in the skirts of the Cordillera de los Andes the remains of an abandoned mine craft, the place is covered by a plant called “Tails of Fox” one of the few plants that provide food to the goats and sheep that tend to have in place. Arriving to this place we will start with short trek for about one hour as part of our acclimatization, dinner and overnight at 3100 masl
4 Day: Vallecito – Laguna Santa Rosa After the breakfast in the Morning we will pick up our tents and start driving to Santa Rosa Lake at 3,780 masl, Santa Rosa Lake is a beautiful place where you can see flamingos called also Parinas Andinas, guanacos, and the wonderful landscape part of the lagoon; In this place we will set up our camp on arrival lunch at 1pm then we will have a walk around the Lake, then we will come back to our camp site early, dinner and overnight in the camp site of Santa Rosa lake at 3780 masl.
5 Day: Laguna Santa Rosa – Nevado Siete Hermanos – Laguna Santa RosaMorning breakfast in the camp site around 8am then start with the trek up to the Mountains called Siete Hermanos 4780 masl, this trek will take us for about 4 hours to get the summit the weather is usually sunny with a lot of wind and the temperature goes from 15 º C to 20 º C its is necessary to put on the wind breakers Goretex jackets, hiking shoes, walking sticks, sun block cream 2 liters of water per person provided by our cooking staff, return for the lunch in the early afternoon, free afternoon dinner and overnight in Laguna Santa Rosa at 3780 masl.
6 Day: Laguna Santa Rosa – Camp 1 Morning breakfast in the camp site and start driving towards the customs control at Maricunga, we will get there in an hour's drive to introduce our climbing permits and identification each of us with your passports, then we will continue driving towards Rio Lama, after at kilometer 207 of the international route to Argentina, we will drive direction right side, where we will install our camp at approximately 4600 masl dinner and overnight.
7 Day: Camp 1 – High Camp Morning breakfast in the Camp 1 and start hiking up to the high camp, during the hiking we will have spectacular views of the volcanoes and valleys and this part of the hike is quite difficult, it will take us about 4 to 5 hours hiking up, the trail is through a gorge, which continues in west-east direction, in this area there is no water on the road so we have to carry our water in the bottles, once arriving to the high court which is 5,600masl from where it is clear that separates the Portezuelo summits Central and South, here we will set up our tents, we will get early afternoon and we will prepare our climbing materials for the next day, this place is rocky and there so much wind as usually at the place, it is necessary windbreaks Goretex, mountain shoes, walking sticks, protection against the sun (hat, blocker) 2 liters of water per person delivered by our company, dinner and overnight in the high camp
8 Day: High Camp – Summit - High CampToday we will have energetic breakfast early in the morning Breakfast at 5:00 a.m., and then start the climbing up to the summit; the climbing will take us for about 8-9 hours to the summit, the slope in some places reaches to the 45-50 degrees. Here the trail is very heavy, but no risk of falling rocks. Upon reaching the summit, you can see the impressive image of the entire sector: Salt Maricunga, Copiapo volcano, Pissis mountain, Ojos del Salado Volcano, among many others. Back on our high camp around 5pm and dinner and overnight. In this place the night temperatures often reach -20 º C, -25 º C.
9 Day: High Camp – Refugio de Conaf / Laguna Santa RosaBreakfast in the morning and then descend to Camp 1, where the vehicle will be waiting for us, to walk down takes about 3-4 hours to get the Refugio Conaf, lunch and rest in the vehicle then drive to the refuge of CONAF of Laguna St. Rosa (after passing by Customs Complex Maricunga), free afternoon dinner and overnight in the Refugio Conaf.
10 Day: Refugio Conaf / Laguna Santa Rosa – CopiapoBreakfast in the morning and begin driving for the return to Copiapo it will take us for about 4 hours to drive to Copiapo,, arrive to copiapo and transfer to your selected Hotel in Copiapo or Bahia.
11 Day:
Copiapo – Santiago de Chile or Conection Trip
After the breakfast in the Hotel in Copiapo, transfer to the Airport or Bus Station and flight back to Santiango de Chile or another place in connection tours |
